What's New at SCIP?
AGM 2009
SCIP held its 2009 Annual General Meeting at the J.S. Woods
Library Auditorium at 12.00 pm on Saturday, June 27,
2009.
The reception began with a light lunch. The
actual meeting began at 1:15 pm.
The event was a great success and ended with new board
member nominations and voting.
SCIP would like to welcome the following new Members to the
2009-2010 SCIP Board of Directors:

SCIP would also like to thank those members who are departing from SCIP Board for their dedication in serving the needs of Internationally-Trained Professionals.

SCIP is in the process of
hosting a series of Roundtables to address the issues of workplace integration
of internationally-trained professionals from the perspectives of accrediting
bodies, training institutions, employers of professionals, practicing professionals,
immigrant settlement agencies and newly-arrived internationally- trained
professionals.
November 1, 2008- The Allied Health Sector Roundtable
The Saskatchewan Capacity for
Internationally-Trained Professionals held its second Roundtable with the
stakeholders in the the Health Sector at the J.S. Woods Auditorium on
Noverember 1, 2008.
This Roundtable
of Stakeholders, which associated four health professions (Nutrition
& Dietetics, Psychology, Physical Therapy and Social Work), was a great
success on all levels.
Besides
the representatives from organizations that are directly associated with these
professions, others attending this roundtable included: individual health
professionals, health educators, SCIP board members, representatives of
immigrant settlement organizations, Saskatoon Health Region, Saskatchewan
Ministry of Health and Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment
and Labour.
March 2008- The Enigeering Roundtable
SCIP held its first Roundtable in Saskatoon with the stakeholders in the engineering profession on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Saskatoon club, 417 21st Street East, Saskatoon.
SCIP was looking for the answers with respect to
(a) qualifications recognitions and professional registration
(b) barriers in job market
(c) roles of various stakeholders in finding solutions to these problems.
This event was great success as it laid the ground work and format for future Round Tables.
