ROUND TABLES

SCIP is in the process of hosting a series of Roundtables to address the issues of workplace integration of internationally-trained professionals from the perspectives of accrediting bodies, training institutions, employers of professionals, practicing professionals, immigrant settlement agencies and newly-arrived internationally- trained professionals.

November 1, 2008- The Allied Health Sector Roundtable

The Saskatchewan Capacity for Internationally-Trained Professionals held its second Roundtable with the stakeholders in the the Health Sector at the J.S. Woods Auditorium on Noverember 1, 2008.

This  Roundtable of Stakeholders, which associated  four health professions (Nutrition & Dietetics, Psychology, Physical Therapy and Social Work), was a great success on all levels.

Besides the representatives from organizations that are directly associated with these professions, others attending this roundtable included: individual health professionals, health educators, SCIP board members, representatives of immigrant settlement organizations, Saskatoon Health Region, Saskatchewan Ministry of Health and Saskatchewan Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour.

March 2008- The Enigeering Roundtable

SCIP held its first Roundtable in Saskatoon with the stakeholders in the engineering profession on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Saskatoon club, 417 21st Street East, Saskatoon.

SCIP was looking for the answers with respect to

(a) qualifications recognitions and professional registration
(b) barriers in job market
(c) roles of various stakeholders in finding solutions to these problems.

This event was great success as it laid the ground work and format for future Round Tables.
